1978 saw the official start of the development and marketing of the BALINIT^® PVD coating. In 1983, the first coating centre outside Liechtenstein was opened in Italy. Just one year later came the step to America. In 1987, the first centre in Asia started business in Japan.

Oerlikon Balzers now has production in more than 80 coating centres in 30 countries of Europe, America and Asia. A unique network that continues to expand. Each day, Oerlikon Balzers coats hundreds of thousands of tools and precision components.

At Balzers VST, around 100 employees on 2 sites (Germany and the USA) are committed to customer support and short delivery times.
