Gudgeon pins
The high injection and combustion pressures of modern diesel and racing engines generate very high compressive stresses between the gudgeon pin and the small connecting rod eye. This can bring the bronze bushing, normally used as a journal for the gudgeon pin, to its deformation limit.

Coating the gudgeon pin with BALINIT® replaces the sliding function of the bushing and renders it redundant. In addition, it permits a lighter, stiffer connecting rod design. Furthermore, BALINIT® effectively suppresses scuffing in the bore of the aluminium piston.
