Process documentation, measurement of process efficiency, continuous training of the employees involved and internal and external audits ensure that these process definitions are followed and improved.

Quality Certifications
All Balzers' coating centres throughout the world are certified under ISO 9001. Centres specialising in coating parts for the automotive industry are also certified to ISO/TS 16945.

The objective is always the same: to offer high-quality products and services with zero-defect quality and optimised procedures. Every day, Oerlikon Balzers coats over 500,000 parts and processes thousands of orders. In order to achieve a uniform level of quality throughout the world, Oerlikon Balzers has comprehensively documented technical standards for its coating centres. Compliance with these standards is ensured by internal audits in all centres. In order to improve quality, the systematic reject evaluations and resulting improvement measures are communicated to all centres.

Environmental responsibility

Oerlikon Balzers has taken the strategic decision to ensure that Environmental Management Systems are implemented and maintained in all the global production centres. This system will adhere to the requirements of ISO 14001.

In order to achieve a consistent environmental performance worldwide there are mandatory Policies and Directives issued by Oerlikon Balzers. There are also several initiatives being progressed to ensure that a logical approach is taken towards the gradual introduction of practical Environmental Systems.

A Global Environmental Policy has been endorsed to demonstrate commitment towards achieving sustainability and adherence to applicable legal requirements.

The first centres have been awarded the ISO 14001 environmental certification.
