A wristwatch's parts, with a diameter of only a few millimetres, are already little works of wonder. They drive the watch mechanism reliably, and they are subject to precisely the same laws of physics as, for example, a gear wheel in an automobile transmission. The parts' optical appearance also plays an important role – especially in luxury watches.
The coating applied to the parts of a watch movement protects them against abrasion and permits a significant reduction in the use of lubricants and an extension of the maintenance intervals for watches.
The BALINIT® DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) coating combines low friction with high hardness, making it suitable for both parts in movements and cases.
In addition to their function in reducing friction and wear, the hard PVD layers are also used as protection against abrasion and for decorative purposes.
Cases, backs, bezels, bracelet parts and whole bracelets are coated.
